If you thought a high tea is all about dainty treats and sipping on tea – royal pinky in the air – then throw your old thoughts into the ocean because the V&A Waterfront’s Ginja Restaurant is doing high tea differently, with a kick and a GINja twist.
On the first Saturday of every month Ginja celebrates their gin of the month with an afternoon high tea and a buffet of delicate and decadent sweet and savoury treats – think gourmet, think colourful, think cucumber sandwiches that graduated chef school cum laude – while local artists such as Tons of Funs put the vibe in vibrant and lift the spirit with shoe-tapping entertainment against the backdrop of Table Mountain, right on the water’s edge.
While a selection of Khoisan teas and coffee are available and included in the price, it is those juniper berries distilled to perfection that steal the show every month. Ginja’s Gin High Tea is only R185 per person and included in the price you will find a variety of tonics (sponsored by Fitch & Leedes) and different garnishes, fruits, herbs and flavours to craft your dream gin cocktail into realisation. Gin is charged separately on consumption.
To gin or not to gin on a Saturday is a silly question and whether you want to experience it with friends, family or celebrate a special occasion, a gintastic afternoon is guaranteed thanks to Ginja’s ambiance of charm and elegance.
For the month of August, Ginja is featuring Black Rose Blush gin.
Ginja’s Gin of the Month: Black Rose
The small batch Black Rose gin is produced from the finest botanicals and natural ingredients and copper-distilled for an extra smooth taste experience. Black Rose Gin’s Blush – a 100% natural pink gin – has a distinct and unique flavour, it is infused with refreshing pomegranate and with a subtle citrus taste it is the epitome of the perfect combination of botanicals giving you a sweet lasting taste on the palate.
