A Few Favourite Travel Quotes
Yep. It’s one of those posts. I’m one of those travel bloggers…
But I can’t help it.
I have a thing for it. Always have, always will. I put it on my walls. I put it on my skin. I scribble it on a piece of paper. I tweet it. I e-mail it. I share it.
Travel quotes inspire me. Words trigger my wanderlust neutrons and motivate me. It gives me that “ahhh” moment and fuzzy-slippers-in-front-of-the-fireplace feeling. One beautiful word can change my whole day; one travel quote can impact my whole life.
So yes. I’m one of those people and this is one of those “my favourite travel quotes” posts…
Travel Quotes that I have a thing for

Some of my favourite Travel Quotes
1. The one that’s from Osho
“It is the most beautiful moment in one’s life
when there is neither confusion nor certainty.
One simply is — a mirror reflecting that which is.
With no direction to go anywhere, with no idea of
doing something, with no future – just utterly in
the moment, tremendously in the moment.”
~Osho
2. The one that’s brutal
“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”
~Cesar Pavese
3. The one that’s telling you to stay at home
“If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.” – James Michener
4. The one that’s deep
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights. It is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard
5. The one that’s for solo travellers
Don’t be scared to walk alone. Don’t be scared to like it. – John Mayer
6. The one that’s a famous one
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
7. The one that’s unknown
“Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown. ” – Gaby Basora
8. The one that’s almost like the other one
“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet. – Rachel Wolchin
And the other one:
“Travel. As much as you can. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.” – Anonymous
9. The one that’s not sparkling
“All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R Tolkien
10. The one that’s part of a poem
11. The one that’s about writing

“The travel writer seeks the world we have lost – the lost valleys of the imagination.”
– Alexander Cockburn
12. The one that’s about moving
“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
13. The one that’s a secret
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” – Martin Bube
14. The one that was not intended
“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.” – Douglas Adams
15. The one that’s from that chef
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain
